Impaired delayed hypersensitivity in juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.
Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA) is thought by many to be a different disease from rheumatoid arthritis in adults (RA), partly because of the infrequency of pathological serological phenomena (Calabro, 1966). Recent investigations have, however, shown that antigammaglobulin and antinuclear antibodies are often found in sera from patients with JRA (KAss and Munthe, 1969; Torrigiani, Ansell, C...
متن کاملVirus antibody levels and delayed hypersensitivity in rheumatoid arthritis.
Epstein-Barr virus and cytomegalovirus antibody levels were not higher in patients with rheumatoid arthritis compared to matched controls. Delayed hypersensitivity, measured by skin test reactivity, was depressed in rheumatoid arthritis. There was no correlation between virus antibody titres and delayed hypersensitivity.
متن کاملAnticardiolipin Antibodies in Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis and Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
Background: Antiphospholipid antibody syndrome (APS) can either occur as a primary syndrome or associated with other autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Anticardiolipin antibody (aCL) of IgG and/or IgM isotype in blood, measured by a standardized ELISA is the most acceptable laboratory criteria. APS IgG isotype, particularly IgG2 subclass is more strongly associated ...

متن کاملMonarticular juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.
Seven out of 22 children with monarticular juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (MJRA) developed involvement of other joints between six months and three and a half years from the onset. In the other 15 patients the disease has remained monarticular for between one and 16 years (mean six years). Chronic iridocyclitis was seen in three of the five boys, two with antinuclear antibodies. Children with MJ...
